Last year at the Tory Conference, I was going to tell a joke about Rinka the Great Dane, whose shooting led to the trial of former Liberal leader Jeremy Thorpe.

I'm glad I didn't know we have been forced into an alliance of sorts with the pathetic Lib Dems.

Anyway, it's easier today to come up with a funny about the current Lib Dem leader Clegg.
