Steve Hilton, my director of strategy guru, and my closest adviser to quit Downing Street, to take a 12-month break, to work at Stanford University in California.

My beloved Stephen wanted to abolish JobCentres, suspend consumer rights laws for nine months and ignore some EU ­employment regulations.

A sad loss to the Government.

I hope he will be back with us ASAP - before people start listening to the sick pathetic whining of the Lib Dem's too much!
