I have been asked to investigate the fact that people who have been chosen as Olympic torch bearers later in the year have been asked to pay £199 if they want to keep the torch.

Hey, these torches don't come cheap. If the bods don't pay for them the dosh will have come out of the public purse. We're already a billion or so over budget - luckily I can blame Ken Livingstone for that.

Anyway - anyone who pays £199 for their torch will be able to get double or treble that on ebay a month later! Honestly, some people have no business skills...
