The selling of second hand knickers has been banned in Ghana: Markets, second-hand shops, even brothels are not allowed to issue used knickers to Ghanaian women, even if they can't afford new ones.
This situation has caused a lot of pleasure for Ghanaian men hoping to get a quick flash now and then from Ghanaian, knickerless women whilst picking up their water vases.
The price of new knickers is for many Ghanaian women well out of reach and second hand one's were always a comforting substitute, albeit the long-john grannie versions imported from Northern England were not so popular.
