There was rejoicing throughout the Catholic Church yesterday when it was announced that a pair of knickers belonging to the late Mother Teresa had been found in the glove box of the Popemobile.
It is thought that they were left there following an undercover fact finding tour of public houses in the Catford area of London, that was undertaken by the Pope and Mother Teresa shortly before she died.
When questioned his Holiness was reported to have said: "It was a bit of a heavy night and I don't remember much about it".
"And as she died three years before I became Pope it must be a miracle". He added.
A spokesman for the Vatican said "This is wonderful news. Mother Teresa's knickers are not to be sniffed at. We have already graded them as a class 4 religious artefact".
It is hoped that the holy underwear will be put on public display sometime in the autumn.
