The Taliban are 'misunderstood', claims Mandelson

The Taliban movement in Afghanistan have been receiving a lot of negative press in recent months, culminating in the cover of Time magazine displaying a disturbing image of a young Aghan woman, Aisha, who was allegedly disfigured at the hands of the Taliban, by having her ears and nose cut off.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan have vehemently rejected these 'false' claims, but admit that the time may have come when they have to improve their image.

To this end, we can report that the Taliban have recruited to their cause the Prince of Spin, The Lord of Darkness himself, Lord Peter Mandelson.

Lord Mandelson was, of course, the chief architect behind the birth of 'New Labour', which resulted in their landslide victory in the 1997 general election.

'If Peter can do for us what he did for those two-faced, corrupt, mealy-mouthed infidel politicians, then we shall be very happy indeed.' said Taliban PR consultant Mustapha Pickup.

'I'm keen to take up this challenge', stated Lord Mandelson earlier today. He continued, 'The Taliban are basically misunderstood. They have many traditional values, honouring the family, their mother and father, well not really the mother. But we do need to address the way their message is conveyed,' he confessed.

Perhaps it is evidence of their willingness to change, that the Taliban have opted to appoint an openly homosexual adviser to aid them in their cause.

When this was suggested to Mustapha Pickup he responded, 'What you mean Peter's gay? Stone the infidel b*****d!!'

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
