In a shocking incident in the Kadapa district of India on Wednesday, a budding entrepreneur sold his daughter in an open auction to pay off his latest tab at the off-licence.
Already heavily inebriated and seeking more of the sweet juice, the local resident went for more only to be told by the shopkeeper than his already large debt would prohibit him from obtaining more.
In the drunken fit of desperation that so many of us are used to, the man started to take bids on his six-year-old daughter and eventually sold her for the paltry sum of £13.64.
The ominous bidder soon found himself out of pocket and he abandoned the girl upon hearing that the police had found her father and proceeded to behave violently against him.
When asked if the police force felt they should have waited until the man sobered up and so could feel the pain more forcefully, no reply was given.
