Buckingham Palace announced today that the Queen has sent a gift of a Commemorative Diary to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
A spokesperson for The Palace told reporters that the Queen was personally concerned about the deteriorating 'special relationship' between the UK and the United States since Barack Obama became President, and felt a nice gift could help. Knowing that the President would be busy dealing with the crisis concerning the international company BP (not to be confused with the old company British Petroleum), and having just received an early birthday card from Mrs Clinton, the Palace decided that a gift to her would be appropriate.
The diary contains snippets of information about the Royal Family, including the dates of all their birthdays.
However, it seems the diary has yet to reach Hillary Clinton. It was sent addressed to the US Secretary of State via the British Embassy in Washington, but was apparently forwarded to Condoleezza Rice by mistake.
