Norman Tebbit is the surprise choice as new Ambassador to China. The news was celebrated outside his Bury St Edmunds home with a Chinese style party. Tebbit joined in the festivities and introduced one Chinese child to the traditional Chingford game of "sticking the boot in".
Tebbit at first was unsure about taking the post, but once it was explained to him that Chinese people have a culture all of their own he was more accepting.
Tebbit famously called for a nationality test related to cricket. Interestingly a Chinaman is a left arm wrist spinners wrong 'un. The former hitman for Margaret Thatcher is said to have mellowed in his old age and has not beaten an immigrant for weeks.
The Chinese are said to be concerned at the appointment and have warned children to stay off the streets.
