The UFC have today announced the contenders for the title fight at UFC 109.
Australian Chris Rickard, 49, will face his nemesis Hoppy the bush kangaroo.
The two met once before when Hoppy, distant cousin to TV's Skippy, attacked Rickard's dog whilst walking in Arthur's Creek, north-east of Melbourne.
Head of the UFC Dana White said, "the two have history, Chris suffered a slashed abdomen and cuts to his face last time. Hoppy got away with bruising to the throat after a mighty fine elbow from Chris."
"We just thought this is the kind of thing our viewers want to see. We'll have three, five minute rounds of pure mayhem."
PETA have argued that the fight will be unfair. Ingrid Newkirk said "Rickard doesn't stand a chance. Hoppy'll take him in the first round." This sparked a major betting frenzy from both corners.
With Hoppy going in as a firm favourite and with a frightening stand up game, it's all to do for Rickard, who is great on the floor.
"I love the underdog story," said White, "it makes a fight something special. Rikard is 0-1-0 going in, Hoppy is 1-0-0, but don't ever underestimate Rikard's ground and pound. If he manage's the takedown, Hoppy's in big trouble."
UFC 109 will take place in February 2010 at Fedex Forum, Memphis. TN.
