LONDON - The world media has been driving itself crazy over the Royal hug wondering whether Michelle Obama had broken protocol in hugging the Queen or whether Her Majesty herself had finally turned human deciding to hug someone other than her handbag.
Now comes some startling news from Buckingham Palace. One of the Queen's personal physicians, Sir William-Wobbly Kneebone, ninth Lord of Lumbago dropped this bombshell at an insufferable Sloane Square soiree.
"Good Heavens, Her Majesty doesn't hug people not even Phil the Greek. The Queen experienced a drop in blood pressure while craning her neck to maintain eye level with those overly tall Obamas. As she stumbled, she reached out to steady her balance. That's why she put her hand on Mrs. Obama's back.
"Unfortunately Mrs. Obama being one of those touchy-feely Americans mistook it for a hug and responded. Most inappropriate I say - but that's the colonies for you.
"Luckily it turned out to be a most opportune PR moment for the old girl. Talk about making her look human. Jolly good, I say"
