A recently released list by the Advertising Standards Bureau found that the hotly debated Kotex U tampon advertisement, showing a woman going about daily activities with a beaver in tow, was the most complained about ad in 2008.
The ad, which received nearly 200 complaints, tells its audience, "You only have one of them, so look after it'' and featured the animal which viewers understood to be a reference to female genitalia.
"I hate it" stated one lady interviewed on the street by an Australian TV station. "It treats a woman like she's no more than an animal."
Another, "Why don't men grow up? This ad was for them, not women. I sure won't buy their product and no other woman should."
But the average male?
"I think it's funny", stated Richard Dick. "I sure catch it for my double-Dick name. So lighten up."
Has the company decided to change their ways?
Well, lets put it this way: "They're now filming women with cats."
