London Zoo became the first zoo to lose more than 100 lions for the season after losing 11 lions during the Xmas period.
The lions had already sealed the zoo league's worst-ever year with last Sunday's 3 lion loss.
They join the 1976 Bristol Zoo team who went 11 consecutive months without keeping all their lions enclosed.
The lions showed some intensity in their attempt to avoid capture, rallying twice from behind a nearby Tescos to enter the shopping malls in Leicester Square.
But London Zoo's Brian Rodgers threw keepnets for two of the younger lions adding to his first earlier in the day.
The lions have now escaped on 23 of their last 24 attempts. Their last failure came on 3 January 2008, when they were beaten back by the snow.
Bournemouth and Newcastle Zoos grabbed division titles on last-gasp preventions, lions blocked from escaping on the last day of the zoo's regular season.
Ryan Longleat notched a 50-yard effort using a keepnet with five seconds left to avoid losing any lions during the last quarter of the year.
