The American West seemed to be won by vigilantes assembled into posses to take the law in their own hands and bring the desperadoes to justice. US classic film director John Ford documented the vigilante justice that protected defenseless citizens from the evil doers and ineffectual lawmen.
This traditional script is apparently being playe out in Western Pakistan as government forces backed by US reinforcements are failing and flailing about left and right against the black turbaned Taliban gang.
To the rescue has come Pakistani posses from the Buner, Pakistan American Western Film Society. The group of Muslim film buffs enamoured with the US west and John Ford's classic films have found in these flicks the game plan to foil the evil deeds of the Taliban.
Recently mounted on camels the regular folks of Bruner assembled in the town square in outrage at the Taliba gang' incursion on the law abiding Brunerians.
"We mean to protect our womenfolk and children!", declared ordinary citizen Bruner shoemaker, Ali Muhammed Leatherstocking, in perfect 1920's American film dialect.
