Bowing to pressure from environment agencies planemaker Boeing has today unveiled its new "green" 787 Dreamliner aircraft powered by vegetable oil.
The company boasts that the plane will use only organically produced Vegan vegetable oil produced by Fair Trade farmers.
In another twist the the "green" plane will not actually fly. In an attempt to reduce carbon emissions the plane will instead trundle at 40- miles per hour along the virtually unused toll roads of the world, flying only on short hops across the oceans.
Instead of being crewed by air hostesses coifed and made -up to within an inch of their lives, the new "green" plane will be staffed exclusively by "environmentally aware" staff recruited from communes across the world.
Boeing are confident that the new Dreamliner will be in great demand with millionaires such as Sir Richard Branson who has placed an order for 15 planes.
Sir Richard commented today,"With the estimated Dreamliner time to get from the UK to the USA standing at approximately 4 weeks-2 days depending on traffic, only millionaires will be able to afford the time off to use these planes. It's going to be a fairly exclusive clientele, plus there's no chance of it crashing."
