STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN It was announced today the Church of Scamatology has been selected by the International Cult Committee to be the recipient of the coveted Cult of the Year award. In doing so, they beat out the Moonies, Children of God, and over 100 vanity cults that have recently popped up.
"We are very proud to be the winners of the Cult of the Year for 2014! It's been said that our cult is dying out due to our deceptive practices, alienating family members from each other, subjecting victims to a mind numbing, hypnotically repetitive cycle that eventually enslaves the unwitting victim to the cult," beamed Little Davey Makemerich, the dictator of Scamatology. He was drowned out by the wild clapping of attending cult leaders.
"Scamatology really knows how to soak every penny from their members, and then their soul. It's very thorough," spoke one cult leader.
"We can all learn from Scamatology," spoke another cult leader.
In related news, North Korea's despot Kim Jong Un threatened to declare war on Sweden for not selecting North Korea for Cult of the Year, despite the committee's insistence that North Korea wasn't elgible since it was a country and not a cult.
