A Mexican farmer named Chino Mendez has officially registered to compete in a Camel race at the world famous Al Marmoom Heritage Festival.
Chino was born with a debilitating condition that means he has a large growth or hump on his back. He might be weak but according to his sister, he is very fast.
"Chino is the fastest man in the district," gloated Cha Cha Mendez, "he even picked up a first last year in a race in Guadalajara."
Officials in Dubai are not impressed, "I don't understand how this is possible," moaned Ibrahim Al Saconda, a race official. "Somewhere in Mexico a village will be missing its idiot and he will be racing here in our beloved camel cup. I don't understand why we didn't write this in the official rules, we revise them every year. He has a hump but that does not qualify the man as a camel!"
Chino is thought to be trying to take advantage of the rules further. In an official press release sent to us by his agent, it explains an ace they have up their sleeve.
"Senor Mendez is petitioning the racing committee to see if he can use a gift the Mexican Government recently presented him. We are still waiting for a reply from Dubai as to whether or not Chino is allowed to participate in the race on his jet powered segway."
