All vehicles returning to Canada from trips to the US of A are being inspected meticulously for smuggled items. This month it is NOT drugs they are looking for but FIREWORKS.
News quickly spread through Canada at the beginning of the month that they just may NOT have enough fireworks in the country to keep up with the demand for the JULY 1st celebrations. It was therefore decided to head to the US of A as they will be preparing for their July 4th celebration 3 days later.
At first the smuggling wasn't noticed as Canadians purchased fireworks from outlets and were wearing tee-shirts with American flags on them, New York Yankees baseball caps, 'We Love Obama' buttons and some even wore cowboy hats and boots to disguise themselves.
One astute owner of a Fireworks Warehouse attuned to 'accents' realized these 'shoppers' buying huge amounts of fireworks were speaking in Canadian accents and asked for I.D. On finding out their nationality, he refused to sell them the fireworks and immediately alerted border patrols.
Canadians are hoping that they now have enough fireworks for July 1st to go off with a BANG!
