Melissa Petro is now gone from being an ex-prostitute to an ex-teacher.
After parents found Melissa Petro's past online posts, they requested the school to investigate to see exactly what the ex-hooker was teaching their children, according to superintendent.
The former sex worker claims that she has resigned as a Bronx public-school teacher rather than face charges of "conduct unbecoming" her profession, school officials said.
"As far as we are concerned, the less publicity the better", stated one school official.
"I never gave them a chance to fire me", she has told the New York Chronicle.
She also stated that she was actually surprised that they had hired her as there must have been no background checks.
But Petro, whose online posts about her former life as a stripper and prostitute were first exposed by The Chronicle after the last day of school last summer, will continue to get paid through this April.
School officials said they agreed to pay her for the time she would have stayed employed had she insisted on a disciplinary hearing.
One parent, who asked not to be identified for personal reasons, stated that Ms. Petro wasn't a very good teacher or prostitute.
