Ottawa, Ontario - Mary Jo Kopechne, the daughter of Joseph Kopechne and Gwen Kopechne of Hull, Québec, is to be married Sunday to Edward M. Kennedy, the son of Rosemary E. Kennedy and Joseph P.Kennedy of Ottawa, Ontario. Dr.Norma Jean, a Universal Life minister, is to officiate at the home of the bride's parents.
Ms.Kopechne, 26, will keep her name. She is Senior Vice President of the firm, Wilkes-Barre, an architectural firm with expertise ranging from long-span suspension bridges to short-span highway bridges. She graduated, magna cum laude, from the University of Edgartown.
Her father is the owner of Chappaquebecois, the largest car dealership in Western Quebec. Her mother is founder and Chief Executive Officer of independent record producer Bridge over Troubled Water.
Mr. Kennedy, 28, is an executive with the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League. He graduated cum laude from Schenley College.
His mother is the owner of the Honey Fitz Art Gallery in Ottawa. His father is Chief Executive of Prohibition, a chain of sport bars throughout Canada.
His brother Jack is a Member of Parliament for the riding of Monroe, Ontario. His other brother, Robert, is a partner in the law firm of Kennedy, Hoffa & Lansky, in New York City.
