Volusia County, Florida - Dr. Sam Beckett, head of the Quantum Leap Project, and now distressed time traveller, finally leaped into the wrong person.
For years he has leapt into people throughout his own personal lifespan, "setting right what once went wrong", and always in the nick of time. Not this time.
This time he leapt into Richard Mallory, December 1st, 1989, on a back country road with a woman not known to him. The woman, Aileen Wuornos, was in the process of giving him oral sex, which prompted him to look up and say, "Oh, boy!" This was, afterall, the first time in 96 leaps that Dr. Beckett had been laid in any fashion.
Just at that moment, Al appeared in the back seat (in the form of a hologram that only Sam could see) and announced that Ziggy said that there was a 98% chance that he was there to keep Richard from being shot to death by one of America's most notorious female serial killers.
At that moment, Aileen sat back up, wiped her chin, drew a gun and shot Sam.
Al took a few puffs on his cigar, shook his head dolefully, snuck a peek at Aileen's breasts, and vanished.
