Washington DC: Following Sonia Sotomayor's swearing in ceremony as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, a luncheon in her honor was hosted by President Obama.
What makes this luncheon unique is that it was prepared by Sotomayor's brethren Supreme Court Justices to make the "new kid on the block" feel right at home.
The menu consisted of the following: Justices Scalia and Alito prepared a "Ceviche" Pizza with Anchovies and "Puerto Rican Lasagna"; Justice Thomas prepared "Cuchifritos", Puerto Rican Soul Food; Justices Ginsberg and Breyer prepared "Ahumador" (smoked) Salmon, bagels and cream cheese; Justice Kennedy prepared "Carne Guisada Puertorriqueña" (Puerto Rican Beef stew, actually it was Irish Beef stew, but close enough); Justice Stevens prepared a traditional Mid-Western hot dish, "Tuna Noodle Casserole"; and Chief Justice Roberts prepared a dessert of "Guava Cake" laced with "Rum" and also brought a bottle of Czechoslovakian Slivovitz (plum brandy).
Vice President Joe Biden then let it slip that he had a hidden bottle of Tums.
