Country singer Lee Greenwood has announced plans to change the lyrics to his hit song "God Bless the U.S.A.." The song was originally released in 1980 and is a patriotic theme song that is played at sporting events and on national holidays all across the country. Only one word in the song will actually change, but it will make a profound impact to many.
There is a line in the first verse of the song that goes:
"'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can't take that away. "
The new lyrics will read:
"'Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and Obama can't take that away."
When asked why he was changing the song after 29 years, Greenwood said, "at least I'm still proud to be an American and ain't apologizing for it to the terrorist ragheads."
