Republican Party National Chairman, Michael Steele, has set up a Special Committee headed by conservative talkshow host, Rush Limbaugh, to plan a concerted attack on President Barack Obama and shoot the high-fler down.
Limbaugh is excited with he idea and has already sent out feelers that the President hasn't got the right built for times like this. According to him, "having a lean and hungry-looking president at a time of the global economic meltdown cannot give Americans the feeling of comfort that things are going well. He is too lean to be president at times like this and he paints a picture of malnourishment - not to mention his wife."
Rush Limbaugh has so many "missiles" he is oiling for the attack but he is taking his time because attacks in the past had failed to hit home. And Limbaugh is a careful strategist.
However, the Committee is boosted by the resolution of the full Republican National Committee accusing Obama and the Democrats of moving the country towards socialism.
Steele softened an earlier component of the resolution which had called for the opposition to be renamed the "Democratic Socialist Party." He did not think it would be right to call a "man" by anything other than what he calls himself.
Steele conceded that Limbaugh's committee will have a hard time finding a vulnerable point in shooting down Obama. "He's young. He's cool. He's hip. He's got a good-looking family. What's not to like?" Steele said.
But John Sununu, the New Hampshire Republican chairman and a former White House chief of staff to President George H.W. Bush, claims that the attack would succeed because "the devil's in the details and the implementation."
