SAN FRANCISCO, CA - It's been nearly 6 weeks since spoof writer cwthomson published the story "Rush Limbaugh Prefers World's Largest Penis to World's Largest Vagina" in The Garlic Press, and he says it's still one of his most read stories, every single day.
"It got 85 hits in the last 24 hours," he says. "It's really pretty amazing. I didn't even think this website had enough visitors to make a ridiculous story like this so successful. What, are people reading it over and over again? I've written way funnier stories than that! I mean, sheesh!! C'mon! Enough, already!"
He says the story is not at all his best work, but was written as a sort of gag experiment. "You know, I just got tired of seeing 'Man with world's largest penis and woman with world's largest vagina axed by TV channel!' in the top 5 stories for, like, forever, so I decided to 'spoof a spoof' just to see what would happen."
What happened is, the story never quit. He calls it his "Energizer Bunny" story because it keeps going, and going, and going...
He credits the tremendous success of the story with a spoof-reading population somewhat obsessed with human genitalia. He hopes TheSpoof.com's demographic fairly well represents the national norm in this matter, as he is considering seeking a legitimate publisher for the short spoof story and retiring with the proceeds.
