GERONIMO, Arizona - Senator Barack Obama has just been endorsed by the NFL Arizona Cardinals.
Last week Obama received the endorsement of General Colin Powell, who served as secretary of state under President George Bush. Obama was also endorsed by The Anchorage Daily News, which is the largest newspaper in Sarah Palin's home state of Alaska. And now with the endorsement of the Arizona Cardinals it looks like Obama endorsements will be coming in left and right (mostly left of course).
The NFL's Arizona Cardinals are currently (4-3) and lead their division. And the fact that they are endorsing Obama is even more meaningful and noteworthy because the Cardinals just happen to play in John McCain's 'backyard.'
Coach Ken Whisenhunt said, "Even though we play in McCain's home state, it really is more like McCain lives in the state that the Cardinals play in and call home. I hope that it makes sense, and I am virtually certain that it does since most of my X's and O's plays do make perfect sense to the majority of my players, both offensive and defensive...and of course special teams as well as our punter and our kicker."
Cardinals 'Cheerleader of The Week' LaToya said, "We in Arizona have a lot to cheer about. First of all our football Cardinals, our beautiful weather, our Saguaro cactus, the Grand Canyon, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks, the song 'Arizona' written and performed by Mark Lindsay, and the fact that if Senator McCain loses he and Cindy plan to move up to Montana or Vermont."
Defensive Tackle Darnell Dockett stated that he likes Obama over McCain because Obama took the time to answer his question via email. Dockett asked Obama which actor had played the part of Clyde Barrow's brother Buck in the movie 'Bonnie and Clyde.' Obama emailed him back with the answer; Gene Hackman. Dockett added, "And the man also sent me two tickets to next year's Arizona Diamondbacks-New York Yankees game."
In related news, John McCain did recieve the endorsement of one group. Bubba Bob and Bobby Bubba members of The Grand Canyon/Colorado River Disorganized Order of The Last Chapter of the KKK stated that their two-man organization has throw its total and complete support behind John McCain and to use their exact words, 'That pretty-mouthed Alaskan wilderness woman.'
