Murphy, North Carolina (IPP) - Cherokee County sheriff deputies arrested a suspect in the death of Frosty T. Snowman this afternoon. The deputies discovered the remains of the deceased snowman after receiving a tip from a propane gas delivery man.
The gas delivery man had been called to a cabin on Caney Creek Road and discovered a puddle of water outside the cabin while filling up the propane tank. The temperature in the area was 40 degrees Fahrenheit which is not cold enough to sustain water in a frozen state. The delivery man became suspicious when he spotted a carrot, 2 olives, and twelve orange candy lifesavers in the puddle of water.
The delivery man immediately called the police as soon as he felt safe to do so after leaving the cabin. Officers arrested Nate Goldman and charged him with suspicion of homicide. Nate protested and insisted that he was completely innocent of the charges.
The Cherokee County prosecutor's office says that they are capable of convicting a ham sandwich if need be. State Attorney Richard Ornithon says that any prosecutor can convict a guilty person but that it takes a really good prosecutor to convict an innocent defendant. He is formerly from Dallas, Texas.
Deputies and detectives assigned to the case found an empty freezer with what appeared to be frost sticking to the freezer's interior walls. The lead detective in the case told reporters that that was evidence enough to support probable cause in this arrest. A local school was put into total lockdown for three hours after reports of the incident spread throughout the community.
Local residents were extrmely upset and one of Nate's neighbors said that this is what can be expected of Floridians and other newcomers pouring into the area.
He said it used to be that most local crime involved littering and abandoning pets at trash dumps and along rural roads which was understandable but that this latest crime amounted to nothing less than an atrocity and crime against all that is decent.
