In the old days "indoor" plumbing was all the rage. Neighborhood hoodlums tipped over outhouses, sometimes with people still inside. This trend eventually led to the end of those days of trodding out on cold winter nights, but in a southwestern area of Texas, outdoor plumbing may be coming back with a twist.
"We use to have a privvy out back," says Gonozalo Escabar, "But we had this long running problem with a neighbor who kept stealing it. They'd hook a chain on to it and pull it away, and usually one of us would be in it."
"Well we solved that problem and we even have running water and everything. It lacks in privacy, but now we can sit there with a shotgun and see anyone comin' for miles."
Yes from the state that brought us G.W. Bush, we now have "outdoor plumbing".
