District of Columbia - Channeling the spirit of Don Quixote of La Mancha, Congressman Barney Frank is attacking the online gambling industry.
As Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and author of a bill to license and regulate online gambling in the U.S., Democratic/left-handed/Jewish/homosexual/Massachusetts Representative Frank held a special hearing on Friday to review the issue. Sadly only six people attended. (Other members of Congress and their staffs were apparently too busy conducting illegal internet gambling activities to take interest).
If passed the resolution would tax/regulate online wagering via the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, a shadowy bureau of the Treasury Department.
Congressman Frank and his 22 supporters (out of a possible 435) were last sighted leaving the capitol building Monday afternoon on their trusty steeds with jousting lances at the ready.
