Paul Wolfowitz, the outgoing president of the World Bank, announced today that bounce protection for the United States is being suspended immediately.
Apparently the United States has missed a critical deadline for depositing funds into the account to cover the overdraft. Wolfowitz stated that with the reckless spending of the current administration in Washington, the World Bank can no longer offer this service. "It is all a matter of risk management", said Wolfowitz. "The United States is just too much of a credit risk at this point in time."
Wolfowitz indicated that the World Bank may take legal action to recover the outstanding balance if the United States does not settle the account in a timely manner.
