Anchorage - (Ass Mess): A seventh member of the Corrupt Bastards Club has been arrested in a FBI probe centered on VECO scams to bribe politicians and related underlings that has seen ex-State legislators and oil industry executives indicted on assorted corruption charges last week.
Anchorage lobbyist Bill Bobrick has been charged with conspiracy to bribe former state Republican Represaentative Tom Anderson and is scheduled to appear today in an Anchorage District Court.
Feverish plea-bargaining means that Bobrick is expected to
plead guilty to conspiracy to commit extortion, bribery and money laundering.
"These are serious corruption charges given the extent of the scam," a local source said today referring, no doubt, to hapless ex-State legislator Bruce Weyhrauch who recently fell off his boat, got rescued and then was arrested by the Feds on a string of charges spanning his duration of his public career.
Reports from the region have said a government informant paid Bobrick who then laundered the $$$ via phony internet companies then dosh up Anderson.
Oil services company VECO was at the heart of consultancies that hid the small print of the corrupt scam.
Anderson has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for trial next month.
"Maybe he's hopin' he can last out the scandal before the really big heads begin to roll at State and national level.
"It could be just a matter of days before we see this scam itting the White House heaqdlines."
