Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has demanded a larger, Government issued airplane. Apparently, the third in line to the United States Presidency feels that she needs something more in line with Air Force One.
"I'm from California," said Pelosi. "That's farther away than Texas (Bush's home state) or Wyoming (Cheney). Obviously, I need a bigger plane than them. It must be something fitting my station as head of the Legislative branch of government and as the first female Speaker of the House."
Pelosi apparently wants a 757, a plane that will hold over 175 people if not modified. Modifications, however, appear to be necessary for the Speaker. "Well, of course I have to put curtains on the windows! The bathroom also has to go. Who ever heard of a stainless steel toilet! I think something in pastels with those little sea shell shaped soaps and real terry cloth towels. I'd also have separate restrooms (one for me and another for everyone else), and have the toilet seat permanently put down in mine."
We'd also get rid of those lights that run down the aisles and those stupid overhead bins. The color scheme would also have to change. We could put in a nice, floral patterned wall paper and something like a burber on the floors."
Republican officials have offered her the use of the Spruce Goose, the largest plane to ever fly. It was built by Howard Hughes and is a sea plane that flew only one time. The plane is currently used more as a museum piece and is anchored in California near the original Queen Mary cruise ship.
