Friends of 42-year-old Dave Paxton of Nashville, Tennessee, were greatly impressed when Paxton informed them that he was contemplating registering for a 50-mile ultra-marathon.
“To me, it’s doubly impressive considering that he doesn’t even run or work out,” said Paxton’s longtime buddy, Tim Preston. “That’s fierce.”
Paxton’s colleague, Walt Havemeyer, agreed. “I’m not even sure how much time he’ll have to train, since he doesn't have a particular race date in mind. But even just to contemplate taking on such a major athletic feat is totally badass in my book.”
Paxton himself was modest about his potential plans for pushing his physical boundaries, possibly on a trail somewhere out west. “Knowing that I may sign up to run 50 miles is motivational. You only live once, is my attitude.”
At this point, Paxton has not pinned down exactly which, if any, ultra-marathon, he would like to consider registering for, but he’s not letting such details deter him from reaping the benefits of achieving his potential goal. “True victory is in intention,” he noted. “Mindset is everything.”
Overhearing his words, Havemeyer chimed in. “He’s so inspiring. I love having dudes like him in my life to lift me up and push me out of my comfort zone. Dave's the real deal.”
