The USA hope to eliminate polar bears by 2010.

The United States of America has in the past been reluctant to acknowledge the scientific community's view that global warming is not just a natural geographical event. Until now the America leadership has denied that it is a situation that mankind can control and rejected the view that we must take action soon to avert a global disaster.

The recent major climatic changes have had a serious impact on almost every man and woman on the planet. It has in the past, been hard to understand the USA's staunch opposition to the cutting back of activity that has been proved to damage our fragile planet's ecosystems.

It was as early as the 1970's that Canadian scientists based in the Artic noted the relationship between polar bear activity and the reduction of the ice cover, and gradual year-on-year temperature increases. It wasn't till the 1980's that this connection gained mass scientific acceptance, and not till the mid 1990's that the majority of western governments accepted these findings.

Due to the magnetic pull being stronger at the North Pole the atmosphere is very thin and sensitive to greenhouse gas attack. One of the most damaging green house gasses is methane, much more damaging to the environment than carbon dioxide. It is well known that the polar bear population produces an enormous quantity of this gas every year. Living in areas so high up and thus close to the delicate blanket of atmospheric gas, this bear methane has been calculated to have an effect ten thousand times more powerful then the same amount of gas emitted at the equator.

George W Bush today announced that the mass slaughter of the polar bear population will begin in August 2007. The polar bear is found on the arctic coasts and pole, the United States (Alaska), Canada, Denmark (Greenland), Norway and Russia. All these countries are expected to approve measures to eliminate the polar bear by 2010.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
