US President, Donald Trump, has spoken to reporters at the White House about the strange and mysterious disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi, who has not been seen since he entered the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul on 2 October. Trump said:
"I'm not covering up for the Arabs, but no body, no murder."
Trump clarified his position:
"I remember Columbo once saying, 'without a body, there's no murder', and Columbo was one hell of a cop. If they do find a body in Istanbul, we'll be sending Columbo to deal with it."
The search for Mr Khashoggi has spread from the Saudi Arabian consulate to a nearby forest, suggesting the Turkish authorities have firm evidence he is not in the consulate.
