Former vice-president Dick Cheney has drawn fire from human rights activists for defending the US and the CIA using satire as an interrogation technique on Guantanamo prisoners post 9-11. Cheney says that the United States was under a high level threat from within at the time from The Daily Show and the Onion and had to fight back on an individual basis with terrorists by submitting them to satire until they broke down and gave five stars to their interrogators.
"For the most part our normal methods of torture using telephone books and water boarding worked well but over time we met with more resistance from hardened terrorists and finally realized that satire was the only option."
