New York Mayor de Blasio, who has been trying to do away with horse-drawn carriages in and around Central Park, says that he's thinking of of doing it a different way.
"I realize this is an unpopular decision and I have hundreds of letters from children and adults who want the carriage rides to continue, once they are thawed out", de Blasio told reporters this morning.
A cheer went up from the cold group who stopped to listen, some running in place to keep warm.
As the Mayor joined in on the jogging in place, he tried to speed up his speech.
"To sum it up, before we all freeze to death, I have received dozens of New York jobless requests that they would like to replace the horses if the money is good. They also vowed never to shit on the sidewalks."
"Still others are asking if it would be OK to use Sedan Chairs with a person crowned as King or Queen and we are considering this also."
The applause was even louder this time because of crowd tying to thaw their hands or because several gays had joined the crowd and liked the idea of being carried around like a Queen.
