Scooterville, NJ (pop 257), has been twinned with the Bulgarian city of Sofia, according to mayor Randy Cockspur, head of the one man panel of twinning issues.
The announcement has come as a complete shock to both the residents of Scooterville and possibly the people of Bulgaria.
Cockspur announced "I made this decision based on nothing but cultural exchanges between Scooterville and Sofia, we are very alike, we both have municipal car parks…..we both have municipal car parks"
Scooterville not only has the world's smallest municipal car park it also boasts a wildlife park, that is currently closed for the winter , was home to this years and last year's world dungaree championships, hosted a highly successful Man From UNCLE convention and is currently the only bidder to hosts both the 2030 Olympic Games and 2040 Fifa World Cup.
Scooterville is also the home of legendary inventor Larry Cockspur, inventor of the doomed over coat with wings, wind jammer with wheels and of course the talking smoking jacket.
Some residents though are a little bemused by the announcement.
"Why?" asked one
"Where?" asked another
"Bulgaria" answered Mayor Cockspur
