We may love our Saturday Kitchen and Masterchef but we're a complete bunch of thickies in the UK when it comes to food knowledge.
According to a survey, 17 per cent of meat eaters believe that pork wings are a real cut of meat. Almost a quarter of respondents thought they might be offered chicken chops or lamb drumsticks and 20 per cent reckoned they might encounter a leg of liver!
EIF News & Features commissioned PollsRUs to conduct our own survey to gauge local food knowledge.
"Ooh no, dear, don't mention liver round here," said Mrs Nuala Spools at number 33, "My brood won't touch it. They think all meat is burger or sausage-shaped - when it's not a fish finger, of course. Or a chicken nugget."
Dave Le Creuset, who works in a restaurant kitchen on the High Street, said: "Leg of liver? Yeah yeah yeah! Let's get creative! Come on!
"Heston and me - yeah! We'll do it! Food should be out there man - totally an experience."
Molly Q, who has the upstairs flat across the road, added: "Meat is murder! Women against meat! Lesbians for vegetables!"
