Independent MP Frank Thomson has resigned from the Land and Agriculture Sub Committee after being overheard "dissing" rape seed production in the United Kingdom.
Rape seed is one of the most popular crop in the country and is used in the production of animal feed, vegetable oil as well as biodiesel for powering motor vehicles.
Its also one of the most lucrative sources of income for the hard pressed farmer.
Thomson, who has served on the committee for the past 12 years, was heard to say "this stuff is really a pain. You travel round the country and all you see is miles and miles of the bright yellow stuff Its everywhere you look. You have to wear sunglasses when you're driving ,otherwise you could get blinded. I wouldn't be surprised if its one of the main causes of rural traffic accidents.
"Even worse, it plays havoc with my sinuses. I spend a fortune on inhalers as it is. It would be all the same to me if someone burned the whole lot down tomorrow".
