Like everybody on the Isle of Wight, we are hoping for a White Christmas.
We didn't have one last Christmas, but the signs are good that the snow afflicting the mainland will reach us just in time for the festive season. Please note, this is not a weather forecast, and any bets placed on this prediction are entirely at your own risk!
With the Christmas lights now twinkling in the Newport pedestrianised area, we already look quite Christmasy, and our thoughts turn to the Christmas Card competition.
Every year we produce an electronic Christmas card to all our readers, but having no camera of our own, we have to rely on you, the Isle of Wight public, to send in your pictures of winter. With all the snow last year, we had plenty of Christmas looking pictures sent in. The winner, Cowes Ferry Arriving in Snow by Roger A Littlebottom (pictured), was especially good.
Can our readers top this.
It may be nice to see some robin redbreasts on a post, or the Newport lights twinkling in falling snow. However, don't let our suggestions for a picture that would make a good Christmas card sway you in your imagination. Last year's runner up, Verginia de Flowers picture of upturned wellington boots in a snow drift, entitled "Help My Son Is Trapped, Please Send Help!" was especially amusing. More like this would be good.
Please note. No nudity this year.
