Labour Deputy Leader, Harriet Harman, has apologised for comparing red rodents with Danny Alexander the Cabinet Cuts Man.
Speaking at the Scottish Labour Party Conference Ms Harman had compared red squirrels with mutated Liberal Democrats.
Harriet soon realised what an error she had made. Protests from Rodent International complained at the language used. 'We have lovely bushy tails' said a squirrel on the executive Committee 'have you ever seen a Liberal Democrat with a bushy tail?'
Red headed Scotsmen have also felt annoyed. 'How could anyone put true red headed Scots in with Danny Alexander?' one asked.
'Politics has sunk to new depths' claimed a deep sea diver who was investigating life forms at the bottom of the ocean. 'I have found politicians lurking here' he declared 'and to compare such beings with rodents is ridiculous.'
An Opinion Poll has confirmed the outrage felt throughout the civilised world at Harriets's outburst. Comparing rodents with politicians 98% preferred rodents, with 2% undecided. 'Not since the time of the Soviet Union has an Opinion Poll been quite so definite' announced YouPoll to a stunned audience of rats who always felt their public image was far from perfect.
'This is an important turning point in rat history' said King Rat 'we are now being accepted. Our public relations campaign has been a resounding success. We will now Ratify the Treaty of Rodentcy'
