Quango Land, Britain: The guidelines from the quango, the Equality and Human Rights Commission, explain that the new Equality Act, which was passed just before the election and championed by Labour's Deputy Leader Harriet Harman. If parents' or public meetings are held in the evening, some women are unable to attend, a disadvantage that exists because of their domestic duties as somee mothers might be at home putting their children to bed.
Whereas if the meetings are held in the daytime, which may disadvantage men, well, that's ok then?
Where will this end? Women may also be disadvantaged by meeting in the evenings? How about the fact that both men and women are less likely to be stuck at work in the evenings?
In fact, if such meeting were held in the day, working women would probably be as annoyed as working men.
When couples attend parents' evenings, often babysitters can be arranged for, as both parents like to attend these evenings together. If they were in the day, in all likelihood, one or none of the parents might be able to attend, disadvantaging working parents as a whole!
The quango, the Equality and Human Rights Commission looks for artifical discrimination, and does not accept the fact that in many families both parents work and meetings are in the evening are much more satisfactory.
So with the lunatics taking over the asylum, then surely changing the time of a meeting to the afternoon to enable the woman to go, is discriminating in itself because it would mean their husbands/partners would be unable to attend because of work commitments. Harriet Harman clearly had too much time on her hands when working on this legislation! This Equality Act was the product of amalgamating 4 EU directives! However did we manage before the EU told us all how to behave?
A solution would be for school meetings to be held during the night! Or lets make them at weekends during the day, that way both parents and the pupil can be there and the teachers too. Surely they would all like to have to come in on a weekend!
The beliefs of Labour Minister Harriet Harperson rein supreme. If this country is so broke how can the taxpayers be convinced of the spending of time and no doubt money dealing with idiotic issues like this? Who paid the loonies to think this up and publish it?
What a sad, stupid, embarrassing little country Britain has now become. Feel sorry for the soldiers who died defending these shores during the World Wars. They died for absolutely nothing, yes nothing. We are swamped with immigrants, fined if our bins are too full, we watch thugs set free for violent crimes, we have a Parliament trying to starve us to death with cuts. MPs milking their expenses to the hilt, lies to get us into wars and then this story about women who may not be able to attend meetings and the consequences of it.
If you are old, fear not, it cannot be any worse on the other side. Young children of today, you have our sympathies.
