He's not the first Scouser to get into trouble for insisting that he's bigger than Jesus, but just like the Beatles before him, want-away plastic Manc Wayne Rooney insists that his comments were taken out of context.
Apparently Rooney, 24, was referring to Argentine soccer player Jesus Datolo, 25 who plies his trade at Italian club Napoli, and not to the Son of God.
Jesus got into trouble recently for posing for popular Italian gay magazine "Fudgepacker Monthly". Rooney seems to have accidentally stumbled upon said magazine on a trip to the local "physiotherapists", before casually remarking to the "lady" that Mr Datolo wasn't anything to write home about in the trouser department.
Still, no harm done eh? Least said soonest mended an' all that.
