Cheated holidaygoers were today demanding the resignation of tourist board chief, Simon Nattress, after it was discovered the popular Lincolnshire holiday resort of Skegness did not actually exist and had been invented to attract unwitting tourists.
The holiday camp of Butlins, the picturesque seafront and Famous Uncle Tam's Fish Bar/Key Cutting existed in nothing more than promotional literature created by Nattress because of failing levels in tourism trade. Duped holidaymaker, Sheila Sweels, urged all travellers to be wary of bogus seaside towns. She warned "I urge all travellers to be wary of bogus seaside towns."
Long-time Skegness police constable, Derek Shortnasty (not pictured), was alarmed to discover the news that not only was his town invented but he no longer had a job because he "can't arrest invisible people. It's in the regulations and everything."
In a press statement Nattress admitted the allegation but stressed that tourist board staff were to blame and not him because he was on his lunch when the brochures were sent to the printers.
