Shock waves have been cascading through the Humanist community on the announcement by Richard Dawkins, dubbed the 'Archbishop of Atheism', that he now believes in God.
'I must confess' he said at his Oxford home 'that I have been praying for some time. Now I have seen the light and have become a believer in God.'
An irate and bitter spokesperson for the Humanist Association declared 'This is what it takes Dawkins to get onto Thought for the Day. In fact it was clear that he had found God years ago by looking in the mirror.'
The Archbishop of Canterbury beamed as he exclaimed 'Would you Adam and Eve it? Richard has joined our flock and there is much celebrating in Heaven'.
Speaking exclusively to this reporter, Richard Dawkins appealed to his followers with the remark: 'Perhaps some of you will follow me and evolve into a life of Faith.'
