Pentecoastal preacher Morris Cerillo, leader of the radical right wing evangelist cult, the Christian Fist of Humility, saw the face of Satan in the ash cloud hanging over the Eyjafjallajökull volcano last week.

"I've come face to face with Satan many times", said the 60 year old sociopath, "and I recognised the old devil straight away, leering at me from thousands of feet up in the sky."

Mr Cerillo, who spoke in tongues to our correspondent, was due to give a talk to an audience of 18 people at a bus stop in Oxford. He made the headlines in 1998 when he saw the face of Satan in a pile of dog faeces that had been pushed through his letterbox. He also told us:

"I thought I saw him in a shaving mirror one time, but that was just God having a joke with me. Halleluliah praise the Lord, I thought to myself, when I realised it was the face of our blessed Lord Jesus that was in that shaving mirror."

Cerillo, whose rousing presentation style on his home-spun TV channel has been likened to that of Adolf Hitler's, stopped the interview to tell us about his latest book, "The Humble Path to Glory". He emphasised that he does not force people to buy his books, or his best-selling healing handkerchiefs. "People can just make a donation. There's no obligation to receive anything in return", he said, adding: "If you want to be free from Satan and eternal damnation in the raging furnace of hell, just make a cheque payable to me and post it off. £1000 will keep you free from eternal damnation for a whole year."

He also reminded us to watch his TV shows on the Lord's Own TV Channel, if we know what's good for us.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
