London, UK - Conspiracy theorists and anti-terror diehards have called on the Parliament to reinstate the UFO hotline or else risk sending the wrong message to terrorists and extraterrestrials.
"Terrorists will read this and see that the UK is no longer watching the skies for signs of extraterrestrial attack. What's to stop Bin Laden from hijacking the TARDIS and crashing it into Number 10 Downing Street?" said Neville Cornwall, blogger and conspiracy theorist.
While there is little evidence that terrorist have the technological knowledge to create tractor beams, flying saucers or phasers, some think that the aliens will work with other groups against the interests of the government and people.
"I heard that bin Laden was meeting with Davros to trade Middle East oil for Daleks," said Archie Dunbickle, a contributing writer for conspiracy website PrisonPlanet.com, "The NWO wants this to happen in order to enslave us under Davros' rule. By removing the UFO hotline they have completely usurped the military and threatened our liberty."
The Ministry of Defence has denied the conspiracy, saying that there was lack of evidence that the UK was at risk.
"The one time we were invaded it was by the coldly calculating and emotionless Cyberman, and the worst that happened was the election of Margaret Thatcher," said Secretary of State for Defence Bob Ainsworth.
