Protesters arrived with their packed lunch

Fat people staged a demonstration in London today calling for an end to discrimination. A large crowd of at least three people stood outside the London assembly and called on the mayor, Boris Johnson, to enforce anti discrimination laws to protect fat people. Geoffrey Lardass said "Fat people are human beings. We need to be protected the same way religious and ethnic minorities are."

Boris Johnson had been asked to attend a meeting with the group last week. He did not attend. So, the mountain came to Mohammad. Fatism, argue the group, should be stamped out. Mr Lardass explained "We want the great contribution fat people make to be properly recognised. From Paul Gascoigne and Michael Gatting in sport to John Prescott and Kenneth Clarke in politics, fat people often lead the way."

However, there are those who argue that fat people should not be protected the same way as ethnic minorities. Professor Albert Balltickler of Cambridge University had this to say "If someone is black then they cannot change that fact. If someone is fat then they can go on a diet."

There were problems earlier when the demonstrators tried to stage a sit in at the London assembly but could not find any seats large enough to fit their backsides in. Police are trying to coax the protesters away by offering cream cakes.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
