There was a riot at Ascot racecourse yesterday under the most bizarre circumstances. New rules were brought in yesterday by the owners of Ascot racecourse that you could not use any of the toilets unless you were wearing a tie.
A copy of the rules was handed to racegoers as they entered the racecourse but no one realised the significance of the rules and what the consequences would be until much later. In bold letters it clearly said NO PERSON CAN USE THE TOILETS UNLESS THEY ARE WEARING A TIE.
As time passed and people were consuming large quantities of drink people started to notice large queues forming at all the toilets with a racecourse official at the entrance to every single one. Women and children were being denied entrance to the toilets because they were not wearing ties.
The Senior Steward on the racecourse Mr John Jobsworth was then forced to make an announcement "I have to go clearly by the rules and it clearly says everyperson must wear a tie to get the use of the toilets."
The crowds got bigger and the people angrier by the second until one large lady stepped forward and punched the official guarding one of the toilets knocking him clean out. 10,000 women desperate for the toilet, one small unguarded toilet in the middle of the racecourse and they all rushed to get throught the small doorway at the same time which led to a massive riot and hundreds of arrests.
Stewards say they may change the rules.
